The Ultimate Guide to Botox Injections: What You Need to Know Before You Go

More and more people are choosing Botox® to smooth wrinkles on their foreheads and around their eyes. Use of it increased even during the pandemic, and men and younger people have adopted this treatment.

The rising popularity of Botox can be attributed to a number of causes, but it’s at least partially because this wrinkle treatment is both highly effective and extremely convenient.

You can visit Elaine Phuah, DO, MBA, FACOI, and our team in Fort Worth, Texas, for a customized, downtime-free way to smooth wrinkles on your forehead, between your eyebrows, and at the corners of your eyes (crow’s feet). Dr. Phuah has been injecting Botox for over 11 years, and all injectors at Hanami Medspa are board-certified physicians. To further ensure your comfort, they first apply numbing cream.

Before your first Botox injections, though, there are a few things you should know:

#1: It only works for specific wrinkles

Botox works by temporarily freezing the muscles that cause certain wrinkles. Specifically, it’s effective for:

If you have wrinkles on the lower part of your face — like deep nasolabial folds — a different type of cosmetic injectable works best. Our team offers dermal fillers in addition to Botox, so we can customize the right treatment for any signs of aging you want to address.

#2: The results are temporary

Botox doesn’t last forever. Most people see results for about three months, then notice the wrinkles slowly return. Fortunately, a quick and convenient touch-up treatment can keep that area smooth.

#3: There’s no downtime — but you should take it easy

Technically, you don’t need to take any time off work or otherwise seriously alter your plans after your Botox appointment.

That said, you should plan to rest as much as you can for the remainder of the day. Avoid bending forward, and don’t do any strenuous activities until the next day. Also, avoid rubbing the treated area so the Botox doesn’t spread.

#4: Botox brand isn’t your only option

Like Kleenex® or BAND-AID®, Botox is another instance where the brand has become the standard nomenclature for the thing itself. But Botox®-brand injections, which are manufactured by the pharmaceutical company AbbVie, aren’t your only option.

Here are Hanami Medspa, Dr. Phuah and our team also offer Dysport® and Xeomin®. These two other brands are formulated slightly differently. They still smooth dynamic wrinkles, but our team can guide you toward the best option to achieve your cosmetic goals.

If you have any questions about what Botox could do for you, we’re here to answer them. Don’t hesitate to call Hanami Medspa or make an appointment online.
