Botox and Fillers

How are Botox and fillers different?

Botox

Botox is a purified form of botulinum toxin that temporarily reduces muscle movements that lead to lines and wrinkles. When Dr. Phuah injects Botox into specific areas across your forehead or at the corners of your eyes, it temporarily relaxes your muscles so wrinkles and lines appear smoother and less noticeable. You’ll still be able to make all your usual facial expressions, but you’ll have a more natural, youthful appearance doing so.

Other injectables that temporarily minimize muscle movements, like Botox does, include Xeomin®. The team at Hanami Medspa advises you which one is best for your individual needs.

Fillers

Dermal fillers work differently in that they don’t target underlying muscles but instead replace lost facial volume or plump up your lips with a gel. The gel often contains hyaluronic acid, a substance your body produces naturally but makes less of as you get older. Hyaluronic acid fillers include:

  • Juvéderm® family of fillers
  • Restylane®
  • Belotero Balance®

Other fillers, like Radiesse®, uses calcium hydroxylapatite, another naturally occurring substance that helps improve volume and facial contours in your cheeks and the areas around your nose and mouth.

As part of their comprehensive line of dermal fillers, the team at Hanami Medspa also offers Sculptra®, which uses a synthetic material called polylactic acid. It stimulates your body’s own collagen production in specific areas around your nose, mouth, and lips.

What areas of my face can I treat with Botox and fillers?

Because Dr. Phuah and the team offers such a wide array of botulinum toxin injectables and dermal fillers, you can get a customized treatment plan to improve all your areas of concern, including:

  • Forehead lines
  • Frown lines
  • Crows feet around your eyes
  • Lip lines and lost volume
  • Smile lines
  • Temples
  • Nasolabial folds around your mouth and nose
  • Eyebrows
  • Neck lines
  • Lost volume in your hands

The collection of Botox and dermal fillers the team at Hanami Medspa offers is FDA-approved to treat a variety of areas. Dr. Phuah discusses your aesthetic goals before recommending the most effective cosmetic injectables.

How long do the effects of Botox and fillers last?

It depends on which type of injectables you receive, but typically, the effects of Botox last up to four months. Dermal fillers last anywhere from six months to a couple of years, depending on the type of filler and your skin’s level of elasticity and collagen production.
